Come out to Barbara's studio Friday, January 27th and Saturday, January 28th and let William Mattocks and Lasonda Campbell navigate your dance using the MAPS to West Coast Swing. This is the premier of their all new three-part workshop/series entitled Movement and Precision Series (MAPS). This partner dance series combine the physical and scientific approach to dance. It is extremely insightful and loaded with fun examples and patterns.
Friday, January 27th
Route 1: Connecting the Mind to the Body
With useful examples of imagery, we will connect the mind and body. Using our foundational WCS patterns which are the building blocks, we will show the impact that imagery has on our dance.
Saturday, January 28th
Route 2: Body Flow and Movement
Using the same foundational patterns and further elaborating on our building blocks, we will demonstrate body flow and movement. We will incorporate ascending & descending movements, expansion & contraction, adding color, texture and shaping to our dance patterns.
Saturday, January 28th
Route 3: Transcending Boundaries in Dance
By connecting all the elements of mind and body with body flow and movement, we can begin to transcend boundaries in dance! We will continue to use our constant building blocks and add more fun dance patterns that will help us reinforce and apply all we have learned. We now have the tools to dance like no one is watching!!!!
**Courses most useful together but can be taken separately.

*Doors open at 7:00pm for meet and greet and social dancing
* Lasonda and William will teach their first series on Friday
*7:30 to 9:00 - Series I: Connecting the Mind and the Body
*Cost for the workshop is $15
*Dance party starts 9:00pm and costs $10
*Dance party is free for workshop attendees
*Stephen will DJ WCS music from 7:00 till "Late Night"
*Juniors/Students 18-23 with current School/State ID $5
Saturday Night (January 28th) Event Details:
*Doors open at 6:30pm for meet and greet and social dancing
*Lasonda & William will teach Series II & III on Saturday
*7:00 to 8:00 - Series II: Body Flow and Movement
*8:00 to 9:00 - Series III: Transcending Boundaries in Dance
*Cost is $15 and includes both workshops
*Dance party starts 9:00pm and costs $10

Lasonda and William
William and Lasonda (WILLAS) are West Coast Swing Competitors who compete, judge, and teach workshops across the country in various swing dance venues. Between the two of them, they share hundreds of awards and recognitions. Their style is reminiscent of a classy, smooth, yet funky mix. This is why they are coined as "Classically Smooth and Funky." Will is a native of Harlem, NY, but currently resides in Maryland. At a very young age, he fell in love with the dual syncopations and flashy attire that partner dancing had to offer. As a teenager, he soon found comfort in singing, acting, and dancing and began to immerse himself in the arts through school and community activities. William wandered into the world of West Coast Swing and has won several awards to map his success in his new found love. Lasonda hails from Mason, TN, but currently lives in Dallas, TX. Lasonda currently teaches West Coast Swing and Swing Out. She is proud to have won Top Teacher at Texas Open Classic 2010 and Top Teacher Honors 2nd Place at Mad Jam 2011 which is the largest comp in the east. She is one of 50 members representing various states on the WAG Award Selection Committee for VIP All-Star Open and Wag Awards. She formed S-Factor Dance Troupe in 2004. S-Factor has been blazing new trails in the swing dance world with their cutting edge and innovative dance routines. S-Factor won over seven first place wins across the country from California to Massachusetts in 2011. Lasonda is also the Event Director for RUN THE FLOOR and Dallas Rocks 2012. With workshops and judging requests from coast to coast, William and Lasonda are evidence that opposites attract, and sometimes create The Perfect Storm! |

S-Factor Dance Troupe was founded in September of 2004 by Lasonda Campbell in Dallas, TX. Within a year they evolved from a modest Ladies Styling Class into a powerhouse swing team of 24 male and female dancers. Their mission is to deliver captivating performances which recreate the energy of the Harlem Renaissance, a time in which swing dance flourished. S-Factor has traveled to many cities over the last seven years. They have performed for over 50,000 people to date. Last year alone, they traveled nearly 200,000 miles collectively. S-Factor continues to blaze new trails in the swing dance world with their cutting edge and innovative dance routines and extensive repertoire including Rumba, Salsa, Hip Hop, West Coast Swing, and Swing Out. This team continues to develop their skills and aspire to excellence through disciplined structure and training. S-Factor had become a household name in the world of swing dance. They are a Champion Team with many awards and accolades to date.
